On November 5, 2025, troopers with CHP’s Hollister-Gilroy Division took to social media to detail how ignoring signs got a truck driver into trouble in the Gilroy, California, area.

CHP

“After failing to obey three regulatory signs advising not to take this road, this commercial driver drove onto San Juan Highway towards San Juan Bautista anyway and realized that his vehicle was not going to be able to negotiate a tight roundabout ahead. He was left no choice but to back up his big-rig, and eventually traveling off the roadway and into a ditch,” CHP said.

“The CHP Hollister-Gilroy Area reminds all drivers to stay alert, drive safely, and obey all posted traffic signs. Speed limits, stop signs, and other road markers are there to keep everyone safe, ignoring them can lead to serious consequences. Let’s all do our part to make our roads safer for everyone. Drive safe. Arrive alive,” troopers advised.
