Semi truck crashes into parked train in Nebraska

A semi truck crashed into a parked train in Nebraska last week, derailing several train cars. 

The accident happened on Thursday, October 2nd at about 5:30 a.m. near Grand Island, Nebraska west of South 60th Road. 

According to Local4, the train was parked on the tracks on its way to a plant when the semi truck crashed into it, derailing two empty train cars. There were no warning lights or crossing signals at the time of the accident. 

The train crew was not hurt in the accident, but the truck driver did sustain minor injuries. The tractor portion of the tractor trailer was totaled as a result of the incident. 

Husker Highway west of 60th Road was shut down for the clean up of the incident. It is unclear whether the truck driver was cited. No further information has been released.
