Semi truck driver faces multiple charges for sideswiping parked Indiana trooper’s cruiser

A semi truck driver was arrested and faces charges after striking an Indiana State Police (ISP) cruiser in Posey County over the weekend.

At approximately 8:38 a.m. on September 27, 2025, an ISP trooper was standing outside of his cruiser on westbound I-64 near mile marker 10 as he conducted a traffic stop on a semi truck.

According to Sgt. Todd Ringle with ISP’s Evansville District, “another semi traveling west failed to yield and sideswiped the patrol vehicle. The trooper was standing near the violator’s door when the crash occurred. The trooper fell to the ground during the crash and received minor injuries.”

After the crash, the trooper was able to get back into his cruiser, and he pursued the semi truck until the driver stopped around mile marker 8.

Truck driver Kyle Hohman, 36, of Sandoval, Illinois, was arrested and booked into the Posey County Jail without further incident.

The trooper was later transported for treatment of minor injuries.
