Semi truck smacks into suspended dump bed left behind by dump truck under bridge

Published:

A truck driver sustained minor injuries after crashing into a suspended dump bed left behind by a dump truck that struck an overpass in North Carolina.

The accident happened on Monday, January 27th at about 8:45 p.m. in Surry County, North Carolina on Interstate 77.

According to WXII, first responders arrived at the scene on reports that a tractor trailer had gone off of the overpass and landed on the Interstate. However, a quick investigation of the incident revealed that a dump truck had apparently passed beneath the overpass with the bed raised. The bed then caught on the overpass and was ripped from the truck, leaving it suspended underneath the bridge.

The tractor trailer traveling on I-77 then crashed into the suspended dump bed, causing serious damage to the tractor trailer and leaving the truck driver with minor injuries.

No further information on the crash has been released.
