An Indiana man was arrested on felony charges for allegedly using a drone to drop objects like jars of paint, metal rings, and bolts at a trucking company facility.
On July 26, 2025, Chase A. Bowman, 31, was booked into the Jasper County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Two Counts of Stalking (Level 5 Felony)
- Criminal Recklessness (Level 6 Felony)
- Criminal Mischief (Class A Misdemeanor)
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), Bowman’s arrest follows a complaint made on May 28, 2025, about a criminal mischief incident that occurred at a trucking company facility in Remington, Indiana, two days before.
“Vehicle damage was caused by bolts attached to fishing line and metal rings being dropped onto them. Surveillance footage from May 26, 2025, captured bolts striking a red GMC truck owned by an employee. Approximately 75 nails were also found scattered on the property,” JCSO said.
Police identified Bowman as a possible suspect because he was a former employee who “had left the company on poor terms and had previously mentioned operating a drone capable of dropping objects.”
Bowman’s residence is located just over a mile from the trucking company, police said.
Similar incidents occurred at the trucking company facility on May 30 and June 1, 2025, “in which glass jars filled with white paint were dropped onto the company’s roof, scattering shards up to 30 yards. Fishing line was attached to the jars.”
JCSO used FAA records to confirm that Bowman owns a DJI Air 3S drone capable of carrying and releasing payloads.
Police said that another former employer reported surveillance footage that showed Bowman removing bolts from their inventory that were consistent with those found at the scene.
A search warrant for drones, accessories, bolts, jars, fishing line, and electronic devices was executed at Bowman’s home on June 4, 2025. At that time, Bowman was advised of the warrant, read his Miranda rights, and agreed to speak with investigators, JCSO said.
