‘Straight out of a movie’ – Big rigs snagged by utility wire downed by dump truck on Texas I-30

The Texarkana Police Department (TPD) responded to a “freak accident” involving multiple commercial vehicles and a downed utility wire on Tuesday.

Police say that the crash occurred on I-30 in the Texarkana, Texas, area on the afternoon of September 30, 2025.

A dump truck with a raised bed went through a construction zone and “somehow snagged” a utility wire stretched across I-30.

“That yanked the wire down, and when a truck on the Interstate itself hit it, the impact snapped a utility pole and slung it into traffic like a giant slingshot. Two trucks didn’t have time to stop and ran right into the pole and wire flying at them. The wire even sliced into the side of one trailer as it was pulled across the lanes,” TPD said.

No injuries were reported.

Police called the incident “a freak accident” that “sounds like it came straight out of a movie script.”
