Tanker truck catches fire at crude oil facility, prompting evacuation

A fire at a crude oil facility in Texas on Monday evening involved a tanker truck and prompted an evacuation order for nearby residents. 

The fire started on Monday, July 7th at about 8:30 p.m. in the 12600 block of Copperhead Road near FM 2038, just south of Highway 21 near Kurten, Texas.

According to KBTX3, The fire involved a tanker truck at the crude oil facility and was in close proximity to nearby homes. An evacuation order was issued for residents within a half mile of the fire. 

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene and at least one worker at the facility was burned. It is unclear if that worker was a truck driver, or another employee at the facility. That worker was transported to a hospital via helicopter. Their current condition is not known. 

Cleanup efforts and investigations into the incident are still underway.
