The City of Granbury, Texas, recently shared video of crash involving a big rig and a Blocker apparatus as a reminder to drive safely.
On November 7, 2025, the City of Granbury shared video of a collision that occurred on April 5, 2023, in Smith County as crews responded to a previous crash in the westbound lanes of I-20 at mile marker 568.
As crews were attempting to remove a crashed vehicle from the tree line, a semi truck attempting to pass a second truck struck the Blocker, resulting in a multi-vehicle collision that also involved a Texas DPS vehicle and a fire truck.
No serious injuries were reported.
The Blocker apparatus is designed to absorb the impact of a crash to protect crews and first responders working at the side of the road.
“For 25 years straight, someone has died on our roads every single day. 4,160 lives were lost in 2024 alone — more than 91,000 in total. Let’s make tomorrow the day no one dies on Texas roads,” Granbury city officials said.
