Three day commercial vehicle crackdown coming to Kentucky this week

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) division will be taking part in an enforcement detail this week in an effort to reduce commercial vehicle crashes.

From Tuesday, February 25, 2025, to Thursday, February 27, 2025, KSP will take part in Operation SafeDRIVE (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement), a campaign to reduce commercial vehicle crashes.

As part of the operation, KSP will conduct inspections at weigh stations to ensure compliance with safety standards. Officers will be reviewing reviewing hours of service, commercial driver’s licenses, medical certifications and vehicle credentials.

KSP will also patrol looking for dangerous driving behaviors including speeding, tailgating, failing to wear seat belts and driving under the influence.

“We are proud to participate in Operation SafeDRIVE to ensure safer travel for everyone using Kentucky’s highways,” said Officer Steven Douglas, East Commercial Vehicle Enforcement spokesperson. “By addressing risky driving behaviors, we aim to educate all motorists, whether behind the wheel of a passenger vehicle or a commercial motor vehicle, about the importance of responsibly sharing the road.”
