Three dead and one missing in Chattanooga after historic rain that flooded I-24

Three people are dead and one is missing after historic rain in Chattanooga that flooded the area.

The flooding occurred on Tuesday, August 12th in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. 

According to NBC News, the three people killed were in their car when a tree fell in the storm, landing on their vehicle. Two adults and one child died in the accident. One man is also missing after being swept away by floodwaters in view of first responders. The man is still missing as of Wednesday morning. 

The Chattanooga airport experienced 6.42 inches of historic rain, marking the second wettest day in history for the city, which started tracking rainfall in 1879. As of Wednesday, flood warnings are still in effect for parts of Tennessee.
