Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating a multiple fatality crash that occurred in Henry Clay Township on Monday.
The crash took place at 5:30 p.m. on November 10 on State Route 40 (National Pike).
According to PSP, “a preliminary investigation determined that Unit 01, a truck tractor, was traveling eastbound on National Pike when it entered the westbound lanes and struck Unit 02, a Ford pickup truck, head-on. Following the initial impact, Unit 02 then collided head-on with Unit 03, a Chevrolet Express van.”
Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker reported that “there were 3 vehicles involved in the accident, a tractor trailer, a van and a pickup truck. There was a least one deceased individual in each vehicle,”
Five other people were hurt in the crash.
“Because of the severity of the accident, the coroner’s office, along with the state police, are investigating the identity of these individuals and trying to locate their next of kin,” said Baker.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
