A truck convoy in support of the Special Olympics athletes will make the rounds in South Carolina on Saturday morning.
The truck drivers will meet with Special Olympics athletes, law enforcement, and community participants at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday, August 23rd at 11 a.m.
According to WISV 10, the event will host lunch, activities, and an awards ceremony honoring the truck drivers before they set out on their route at 1 p.m. The convoy will head northbound on Interstate 77 and then head south before returning to the fair grounds. The trucks will be escorted by law enforcement.
The Truck Convoy for Special Olympics South Carolina aims to raise awareness for the athletes, and change the public’s perception of people with learning disabilities.
