Truck driver charged with cocaine trafficking following traffic stop on I-80 in Illinois

Illinois State Police (ISP) issued multiple felony charges after a tractor trailer traffic stop along I-80 uncovered a large amount of cocaine.

On January 18, 2025, an ISP trooper performed a traffic stop on a tractor trailer traveling east on I-80 in Henry County.

A probable cause search was conducted, revealing multiple packages of suspected cocaine weighing more than 10 kilograms, ISP said in a news release.

ISP’s Highway Interdiction Team arrested 55 year old California-based truck driver Jose J. Guillen and booked him into the Henry County jail.

The Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges against Guillen:

  • Possession of Cocaine (Class 1 Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine (Class X Felony)
  • Cocaine Trafficking (Class X Felony)
