Truck driver following GPS into neighborhood overturns and loses two 20K pound coils, Alabama cops say

Police responded to a rollover crash involving a truck hauling metal coils in Irondale, Alabama, on Monday.

Around 5 p.m. on January 13, the Irondale Police Department (IPD) responded to a commercial vehicle rollover with a cargo spill in a residential area.

“Unfortunately a semi truck driver following their GPS got confused and lost their way on Janet Lane in Holiday Gardens, this confusion resulted in the semi overturning and sending two 20K pound coils of metal rolling into the neighborhood,” said IPD.

No injuries were reported, but IPD said that the crash caused property damage and road closures.

Police said that the trucking company involved was an out-of-state carrier.
