The California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently sidelined a truck “that significantly exceeded weight limits” and had tire violations.
A Coastal Division Commercial Enforcement Officer stopped the truck in San Luis Obispo, CHP’s Coastal Division said on September 19.
During the traffic stop, the officer identified that the truck “significantly exceeded weight limits—by nearly 7,000 pounds on the rear axle and over 11,000 pounds in total.”

The officer also found tire safety violations and said that the driver of the truck “did not possess the appropriate license.”
The truck was placed out-of-service for safety reasons.
“Overloaded vehicles pose serious risks to both roadway safety and infrastructure. The California Highway Patrol remains committed to maintaining safe travel for all,” CHP said.
