Trucker credits seatbelt for saving his life after crashing off bridge, Iowa troopers say

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) is reminding drivers that “seatbelts save lives” after a semi truck driver survived a plummet off a bridge in the Coralville area this week.

The crash occurred early on the morning of December 2, 2025, in Coralville, Iowa.

“What if one click could be the difference between life and death? A semi went over the Highway 6 bridge on I‑80 while avoiding another crash — the driver walked away uninjured and credits his seatbelt for saving his life,” Iowa state troopers said.

Drivers should remember to buckle up for safety, ISP said.
