Trucker of 52 years honors our country’s veterans with personalized semi truck showcasing military stories

A truck driver of 52 years honors our country’s veterans by hauling his loads with his very own personalized semi truck showcasing military stories.

Don Crouse first started putting pictures of soldiers and their stories on his truck back in 2014, and just kept adding to the decorations when he realized how much people appreciated the effort.

“People pass me and then slow up and get behind me next time they’re coming by they are coming by with their phone and taking video, those are the people that make my day,” Crouse said to MyWabashValley.

In addition to inspiring people who pass him on the road, Crouse has used his personalized semi truck to deliver wreaths to Arlington Cemetery for Wreaths Across America.

“The most interesting trips to Arlington were the two years that we did that were a part of the official escort to Arlington. The official escort is over 750 miles over a six-day period. Escorting the Goldstar family, which had a relation on our truck with around 125 Long enforcement officers, making sure that we stayed safe,” he said.

Crouse and his wife both agree that the most important goal of the truck is to teach children the importance of the veterans’ sacrifice.

“Remember, honor and teach and it’s all about teaching the children to understand why we have freedom in this county,” said Don’s wife Cindy.

“3 out of the 4 times that I am at a fuel island veterans come over to admire the truck,” said Don Crouse. “And get a conversation started and quite often a conversion that they really need.”
