A truck driver in Michigan organizes what has been called a ‘mobile Christmas show’ to spread cheer to truck drivers and prove to the public that drivers aren’t just “dirty, stinky, overweight” guys.
The decorated Christmas convoy occurred along Red Arrow Highway in Oshtemo Township, Michigan on Friday, December 6th, and has been happening for several years.
“You miss a lot of family time and you miss a lot of the holidays,” organizer Noah Melton said of the event. “So it’s kind of nice to have everyone get together for something like this to spend some time together.”
Melton and other participants say the mobile Christmas show started out with a blow up santa and stuffed animals tied to the back of a truck, and has escalated since then. The event is not funded in any way, except for the money procured by the planning committee to feed the truck drivers involved.
“I think truckers often have an image of dirty, stinky, overweight guys that are just out there running the highway,” Noah Melton said to Arc West Michigan. “But we’re just your everyday people, and this is a way to bring a little bit of cheer for us.”
The mobile Christmas show lasted for around two hours. The planning committee says that they hope to turn the event into a charity fundraiser by Christmas 2026.
