Trucking company in crash that killed roadside officer says the driver involved is “a really really good driver”

The trucking company involved in a recent crash involving a roadside officer in Indiana earlier this week says that the driver involved is “a really really good driver” as they cooperate with the investigation.

Indiana State Police are investigating the Wednesday, November 12th incident that killed officer Blake Reynolds in Delaware County.

According to WRTV, preliminary investigation shows that truck driver Teddy Malcom Johnson was heading north on Interstate 69 when he lost control and his Reynolds’ cruiser as the officer was assisting another semi truck on the side of the road. Johnson was driving for Parrish Dedicated Services at the time of the crash. That company is now cooperating with investigations.

Records show Parrish Dedicated Services has approximately 100 drivers and 68 tractors. Parrish has received 30 violations over the last two years, including speeding, following too close and a lane restriction violation, along with hours of service violations and vehicle maintenance issues. They have an OOS rate of about 24%.

“We are deeply saddened. We join the whole community in mourning the loss of Corporal Reynolds. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and co-workers, and also with our driver and his family,” Parrish said in a statement. “We are fully cooperating with Indiana State Police who is conducting the investigation.”

In regards to Johnson, the company says “I can say he’s a really really good driver. We’ve had no issues with him.”

Johnson has been with Parrish since January 2025. Records show he was cited in 2019 and 2020 for driving without a valid license and expired plates. In 2021 he was cited for driving more than 25 mph over the speed limit. It is unclear if these violations were in his personal commercial vehicle.
