Two semi trucks, both hauling two bulldozers, strike same bridge within minutes, Idaho troopers say

Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating two commercial vehicle bridge strikes that occurred near Blackfoot on Tuesday.

The two bridge strikes occurred around 5:30 p.m. on August 5 on northbound I-15, north of Blackfoot, Idaho.

Troopers say that a 36 year old male from New Plymouth was operating a 1986 Peterbilt semi-truck that was hauling two bulldozers when the load struck the Porterville Road bridge.

Soon after, “a 2013 Volvo semi-truck that was hauling two bulldozers, driven by a 47 year old male from Las Vagas, Nevada, was traveling northbound behind the first semi when it also struck the bridge,” ISP said in a news release.

Idaho Department of Transportation

ISP said that both truck drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and no injuries were reported.

The bridge strikes closed both directions of I-15 for hours, resulting in major traffic backups, but the interstate has since reopened.

The Porterville Road bridge is closed until further notice.
