Video shows elderly ‘fatigued’ motorist colliding with semi truck, Texas sheriff says

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) shared dash cam video of a Christmas Day crash involving a “fatigued” motorist and a commercial truck.

The video was captured early on Christmas morning near Groveton, Texas.

TCSO responded to reports of a reckless motorist operating on a Trinity County roadway, but deputies were unable to get the driver to pull over.

As TCSO deputies followed the motorist, he collided with a semi truck traveling in the opposite direction.

“The driver was an elderly gentleman who was fatigued and falling asleep while driving. There was no alcohol involved. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries, only minor injuries, but multiple vehicles were damaged and the situation could have ended much worse,” Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace said.

TCSO is reminding the motoring public of the danger of fatigued driving, “especially during the holidays.”
