Video shows tanker truck with brake failure crashing on 14% grade in Pennsylvania

The Frystown Fire Company (FFC) shared video of a rollover tanker truck crash that took place this week in Bethel Township, Pennsylvania.

FFC responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25 at at Camp Swatara Road and Pine Grove Road in Bethel Township.

“The tanker lost its brakes and proceeded down the 14% grade at speed and rolled through the intersection. Again bystanders immediately stopped to assist the driver who miraculously was not injured severely. He was transported to a local trauma center for non-life threatening injuries,” firefighters said.

Firefighters said that this was the second serious commercial vehicle crash in the area in a months time, with the other crash occurring on July 22 involving a “full size semi truck.”

“This truck was fully authorized to travel this road, there are no restrictions on this size and type of vehicle. The driver was NOT breaking any laws that we are aware of. Please keep this in mind,” FFC said.
