VIDEO: Wyoming sheriff says two undocumented truck drivers booked for deportation

Published:

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) out of Cheyenne, Wyoming, shared a video highlighting recent actions taken to remove undocumented truck drivers from the road.

In the video, Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak explains how deputies are working to enforce immigration law while conducting commercial vehicle enforcement activities.

See the video below.

Driver Who Bypassed Port Of Entry Had No CDL: Sheriff

Kozak explains that on October 28, 2025, a deputy stopped a truck that purposefully bypassed a Port of Entry near the Colorado/Wyoming state line. The deputy used radar and clocked that the truck was traveling at 67 m.p.h. in a 50 m.p.h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the deputy determined that the truck driver “was, first of all, undocumented, from Venezuela, had no commercial driver’s license, had an operating license out of Colorado that was suspended for DUI,” according to Kozak.

Kozak went on to say that the trucking company employing the driver “is suspended by federal DOT and should not be operating” and that the case would be forwarded to federal transportation officials.

The truck driver was arrested for an immigration violation, cited, and was later released, LCSO said.

Dump Truck Driver Also Arrested For Immigration Violation

Kozak said that there was a second traffic stop on October 28 involving a “way overweight” dump truck operated by an undocumented driver out of Mexico.

LCSO also arrested this driver for an immigration violation.

Police said that both truck drivers arrested on October 28 are facing deportation.

LCSO Deputized By ICE

On October 1, 2025, Sheriff Kozak and 25 LCSO deputies were sworn in by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and authorized to enforce immigration law under a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Under the new ICE endorsement, the LCSO officers are focused on human and drug trafficking enforcement on I-25 and I-80 through Laramie County, Wyoming, as well as on “detecting and arresting unlicensed commercial vehicle operators.”
