A trucking company official is accused of felony forgery as the investigation into a fatal pile up crash on I-20 in Texas continues.
The late June crash on Interstate 20 in Kauffman County, Texas claimed the lives of five people after 27-year-old truck driver Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni fell asleep at the wheel. Now, Kaufman County law enforcement has issued an arrest warrant for an official with the trucking company involved in the incident, Hope Trans.
According to Fox 4, the investigation into the trucking company has revealed discrepancies with address and ownership, and multiple former drivers have accused the company of pressuring them to falsify logbooks, backdate paperwork, and exceed HOS rules.
The unnamed Hope Trans official has been indicted on a felony forgery charge. Officials believe this official is responsible for falsifying the semi truck’s registration. The Hope Trans employee has not yet been named pending his arrest. Officials say they hope the official will turn himself in.
Gonzalez-Companioni is currently being held on a $2.5 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 11th for a bond reduction hearing.
