Wisconsin troopers nab trucker for green ‘eye’ lighting on windshield

The Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) is reminding truckers about lighting equipment regulations after a driver was pulled over for having “unsafe” LED “eye” lights on the windshield.

On December 2, 2025, WSP took to social media to share a reminder with the trucking community about vehicle lighting equipment rules.

Along with a photo of a truck equipped with the popular LED eye lights on the windshield, WSP shared the following warning:

Distractions come in all shapes and sizes. Recently, this driver was stopped and reminded why this is unsafe – not only for them, but for other motorists as well.

WSP also shared a link to state statute that prohibits vehicles from having “any color of light other than white or amber visible from directly in front.”

In October, the California Highway Patrol issued a similar reminder to truckers that the eye lights are “cool” but not “road legal” due to the color.
