Wrecked trucker & dog saved from frigid crawl through irrigation ditch

A livestock hauler and his dog were rescued from their wrecked rig after veering off the road and into an icy ditch on Tuesday morning. 

The incident happened on January 21st west of Sterling, Colorado on Highway 14 near County Road 29. 

According to CBS, the cattle trailer was empty when it veered off of Highway 14 and crashed into an irrigation ditch full of icy water. 

The truck driver and his dog were unhurt, but were stuck inside the cab due to the frigid water. 

First responders used a ladder to get the driver and furry co-piot to safety and a recovery crews was able to drag the truck out of the ditch.
