284 commercial vehicles inspected during targeted enforcement campaign in Santa Fe

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) took part in a commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement operation in the Santa Fe area last week.

The detail took place January 20 to January 23, 2026, along I-25 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The NMSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Strike Team and Port Inspectors partnered for an operation focused on aggressive and unsafe driving behaviors by commercial vehicle drivers, including following too closely, unsafe lane changes, and speeding.

See below for key results from NMSP:

  • Conducted 284 combined Level I, II, and III commercial vehicle inspections
  • Issued 152 commercial motor vehicle citations
  • Placed 20 commercial vehicles out-of-service
  • Placed 22 drivers out-of-service

“These enforcement efforts are critical to preventing crashes and keeping New Mexico roadways safe for everyone,” troopers said.
