29 truck drivers will lose their jobs as United Natural Foods Inc. closes a facility in Wisconsin as part of a restructuring involving the adoption of automation.
UNFI is closing their warehouse facility located at 3138 Highway H, in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, resulting in the layoff of 443 workers. The job cuts will begin in June 2026 and continue through early August.
According to a filing from the company is closing the Wisconsin facility and transferring operations to its Joliet, Illinois facility as part of its transition to automation and restructuring of its transportation sector.
The layoff will affect 29 truck drivers, 49 delivery drivers, and a wide range of other positions. The layoffs are permanent. UNFI celebrates 50 years in business in 2026.
