$5.9 million in meth seized from commercial truck hauling powder coating, CBP says

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine from a commercial truck at a Texas border crossing.

The drug seizure took place on February 13, 2026, at the World Trade Bridge located in Laredo, Texas.

A commercial truck hauling a shipment of powder coating was referred for a secondary inspection.

After the vehicle was inspected by a canine unit and a nonintrusive inspection system, CBP officers seized 30 packages containing a total of 662.95 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $5,926,392.

The incident is under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations.

“The continued dedication of our frontline CBP officers to the border security mission and their utilization of our high-tech tools helped us zero-in on this significant methamphetamine load,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Seizures like these reflect the seriousness of the drug threat we face on a daily basis and our firm resolve to keep our streets safe.”
