A 61-year-old man is dead after being crushed between a tractor trailer and a loading dock at a Rivian warehouse in Illinois on Thursday.
The accident happened at 301 W. Kerrick Road at about 1:40 p.m. on March 5th in north Normal, Illinois.
According to WGLT News, emergency responders arrived to find 61-year-old Kevin Lancaster crushed against the warehouse loading dock by a tractor trailer. A LifeFlight helicopter was requested, but Lancaster was transported by ambulance before the helicopter could arrive.
Lancaster was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. It is believed he was trapped for about 20 minutes before he was freed. Rivian has since confirmed that Lancaster was a contractor at their facility.
“Safety at our facilities is our top priority,” Rivian said in a statement. “Unfortunately this afternoon, a contractor passed away after an incident at our warehouse. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the contractor’s family and friends. We are working with the Normal Police Department on its investigation.”
