75-vehicle pile-up clogs snow-covered I-70 near Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel

A 75-vehicle pile-up crash caused the closure of a snow-covered Interstate 70 near the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel on Tuesday. 

The crashes happened on a snow-covered I-70 in Colorado on the east side of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel near the Loveland Ski Area on Tuesday, April 14th at about 2:50 p.m. 

According to Fox News, the morning started with an unrelated series of six crashes, which were all cleared before the massive pile up. The 75-vehicle pile-up happened on the east side of the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel in an area known for major bottlenecks during the spring ski season. 

A total of 19 people were hurt, and eight were hospitalized as a result. Only one sustained serious injuries, and there were no fatalities. 

The exact cause of the massive crash has not been determined. The road was reopened to traffic at about 8 p.m. that evening, reported Denver7 ABC. No further information has been released.
