$8.1 million in meth seized from semi truck’s shipment of tile

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Texas seized more than 900 pounds of methamphetamine from a commercial truck shipment manifested as tile.

The drug seizure took place on April 21 at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility located in Pharr, Texas.

A commercial tractor trailer traveling from Reynosa, Mexico approached the facility and was referred for a secondary inspection using nonintrusive inspection equipment and screening by canine team.

CBP’s physical inspection of the trailer revealed 200 packages with a combined weight of 908.30 pounds of suspected methamphetamine concealed within the pallets of tile.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $8,119,696.

CBP seized the drugs and the semi truck.

Homeland Security Investigation launched a criminal investigation into the incident.

“As this significant seizure aptly illustrates, CBP officers work tirelessly to ensure that commerce flows and hard narcotics are stopped in their tracks,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez.
