$9.5 million in meth seized after tractor trailer scan showed anomalies in shipment of laundry detergent

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized nearly $10 million worth of drugs from a tractor trailer passing through a Texas Port of Entry.

The drug seizure took place on August 11 at the Roma International Bridge located in Roma, Texas.

A 2012 tractor trailer hauling a shipment of laundry detergent entered the Roma Port of Entry and was referred for an inspection.

After a nonintrusive imaging system scan revealed anomalies within the shipment, a physical search of the vehicle uncovered 240 packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing approximately 1,071 pounds concealed within the cargo.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $9,573,752.24.

CBP handed over the drugs, the tractor trailer, and the truck driver to the Roma Police Department for a criminal investigation.
