Arizona troopers say ‘nearly every tank inspected had cracks’ during commercial vehicle hazmat blitz

This week, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol conducted a commercial vehicle inspection operation focused on trucks hauling hazmat.

On May 27, 2026, troopers with AZDPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Hazmat Detail in support of the Arrive Alive Arizona highway safety campaign.

“The detail focused on the condition of hazmat transportation vehicles, proper labeling, and ensuring that chemicals and other dangerous materials reach their destinations safely. Nearly every tank inspected had cracks of some degree,” AZDPS said.
