The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol arrested a truck driver for impaired driving this week following a traffic stop near Kingman.
Early on January 11, 2026, AZDPS troopers with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a truck driver on I-40 near Kingman.
Troopers say that the driver showed signs of impairment and was later arrested for DUI.
“After reviewing the truck’s logbooks, Troopers discovered he drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix. He was so impaired, he forgot to deliver his load and headed back to Nevada. When he reached Kingman, he turned around and started driving to Phoenix again. Troopers stopped him on his return trip and removed him from the road,” AZDPS said.
Officials are reminding commercial vehicle drivers to never get behind the wheel if you consume alcohol.
“DUIs are always a risk. Large vehicles like trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles are already more difficult to stop and pose a greater threat in a collision due to their weight. If you decided to consume alcohol or partake in any substances, do NOT get behind the wheel. Choose to keep Arizona safe. Choose to only drive sober,” Arizona troopers said.
