Arkansas trooper says semi truck exceeded legal weight limit by more than 16,000 pounds

The Arkansas Highway Police (AHP) discovered a major weight violation after stopping a semi truck hauling heavy equipment near an I-30 rest area.

On February 1, 2026, an AHP trooper stopped a semi truck traveling west on I-30 near the Social Hill Rest Area, located at mile marker 93.

During the “weight enforcement stop,” the trooper discovered that the truck was overweight without a permit.

“The CMV was found to be significantly overweight, tipping the scales at 96,100 pounds. This exceeds the legal limit of 80,000 pounds without a permit by more than 16,000 pounds,” Arkansas troopers said.

“Overweight vehicles cause excessive wear on our roadways and pose serious safety risks to all motorists,” said AHP.

Troopers did not provide information on citations issued for the weight violation.
