Arkansas troopers stop oversized load without a permit weighing nearly 129,000 pounds

The Arkansas Highway Police (AHP) recently stopped an oversized commercial vehicle without a proper permit for weight and width violations.

On February 4, 2026, an AHP trooper stopped a semi truck hauling a piece of heavy equipment on Highway 64 in Alma.

During the traffic stop, the trooper learned that the truck driver did not have a required permit to transport the oversized load.

“The load weighed in at 128,880 pounds — exceeding the legal limit of 80,000 pounds. The load was also overwidth, measuring 11 feet 2 inches. The legal width without a permit is 8 feet 6 inches,” AHP said.

Troopers didn’t provide information on citations or enforcement actions resulting from the traffic stop.

On February 1, 2026, AHP made a similar stop on westbound I-30 near the Social Hill Rest Area for an oversized load that was significantly overweight without a permit.
