Virginia law enforcement officers found numerous commercial vehicle violations during a recent enforcement operation in the coalfields.
According to a May 28 statement from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), a commercial vehicle compliance operation was conducted in the coalfields of western Virginia.
During the operation, officers with the Virginia DMV’s Law Enforcement division “targeted dangerous trucks and operators.”
See below for violations discovered during the detail:
- Drivers operating on a suspended license
- Drivers operating without any license
- Expired or no state inspection
- Drivers who were evading fuel taxes by using dyed fuel for highway use
- Safety violations, including 17 severe enough to put the trucks out-of-service
“We’d love for them to find no issues in these operations! Commercial vehicles are important to making the coalfields run, but it’s crucial that they operate within the laws to keep the citizens of Virginia safe,” the Virginia DMV said.
