Caltrans shuts down I-5 Tejon Pass rest areas until 2027

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced the closure of a pair of Tejon Pass rest areas.

Effective Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Caltrans shut down both the northbound and southbound I-5 Tejon Pass rest areas in Kern County, California.

The closures will allow for a constriction project to upgrade the water and wastewater facilities.

The rest areas are expected to reopen in August 2027.

Caltrans is partnering with TSI Engineering Inc. for the rest area upgrade project.
