Car severely damaged after crashing into commercial vehicle’s legally marked oversized load, Iowa troopers say

The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit is asking drivers to use extra caution around trucks hauling oversized loads after a crash this week.

Troopers say that the crash took place in Ankeny, Iowa, on February 5, 2026.

The driver of a passenger vehicle struck a load of roof trusses “that were legally marked and extending beyond the side of this trailer,” ISP said.

Troopers did not report injuries but said that the crash resulted in significant damage to both the passenger vehicle and the load of roof trusses.
