Cargo shift crushed cab in crash that killed truck driver, Missouri troopers say

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded to a fatal semi truck crash in Audrain County on Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. on April 1, 2026, according to an MSHP report.

Troopers say that a 48 year old truck driver from Chicago, Illinois, was driving a 2011 International LF627 west on Highway J at Audrain County Road 481.

The truck went off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.

“Vehicle one’s cargo shifted, striking the cab as vehicle one came to a rest facing west,” MSHP said.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
