Cement truck driver sidelined in Colorado for revoked CDL, no registration, no insurance, tire troubles

Police in Brighton, Colorado, issued a summons after finding numerous violations involving a cement truck and its driver.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on May 29, 2026, the Brighton Police Department (BPD) responded to eastbound I-76 near Eagle Boulevard for a possible crash.

When officers arrived, they found a cement truck that had experienced a left front tire blowout.

BPD officers learned that the cement truck driver “did not have the correct class of license, his CDL had been revoked, the vehicle was not registered (hadn’t been since August 2025), and the vehicle was not insured.”

Sufficient repairs were made to move the truck off I-76. It was taken to a nearby gas station for additional repairs.

BPD said that another CDL driver responded and took the truck after the repairs were made. Additionally, the truck was added to insurance and verified as active before it drove away.

Police are forwarding the information from the incident to the Colorado State Patrol Motor Carrier Division for review.
