CHP calls out truck driver on SR-88 as a ‘chain runner’

California troopers say that they put a stop to a truck driver attempting to avoid chain control requirements amid winter weather conditions.

On February 20, CHP’s South Lake Tahoe Division took to social media to report that a “chain runner” had been caught on SR-88 at Red Lake Creek.

“This overlength truck tractor/trailer tried to run chain control. No No No! CHP was there to stop this from becoming an even bigger hazard,” state police said.

The semi required assistance from a tow truck.

A semi truck in the Donner Summit area also ran into trouble amid the winter weather conditions on Friday morning.

From CHP’s Truckee Division:

“Your Amazon package is out for delivery…

Somewhere.

Currently it’s enjoying the scenic views of Donner Summit while we help it reconsider its life choices. Winter roads don’t care about Prime memberships.

Slow down. Carry chains. Respect the mountain. Let’s keep the freeway open and the packages moving.
