CHP impounds overweight tow truck after discovering its operating authority had been suspended for years

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took enforcement action after discovering multiple violations on a tow truck operating in the Golden Gate area.

According to an August 10 social media post from CHP’s Golden Gate Division, a non-compliant tow truck was discovered during a recent enforcement contact.

The tow truck was operating overweight, had no valid insurance, and had “operating authority that had been suspended for several years,” CHP said.

The tow truck was impounded due to the violations.

“Commercial vehicle regulations exist to ensure companies and drivers operate safely and responsibly. Our Commercial Operations Unit remains committed to identifying unsafe and noncompliant commercial vehicles and holding operators accountable for the safety of everyone on the roadway,” troopers said.
