The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that multiple trucks from the same project were found to be overweight while passing through the Grapevine scale facility.
On the morning of March 3, 2026, troopers with CHP’s Grapevine Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility encountered several trucks that weighed in over the 80,000 pound limit.
“This morning Grapevine CVEF had 9 trucks from the same project enter the scale with gross weights between 85,000 pounds and 88,000 pounds, well in excess of the 80,000 pound limit,” CHP said.

Troopers noted that “overweight trucks are a serious issue in California and across the country, as they put the safety of other drivers on the road at risk and can cause damage to roadways and bridges,” and asked truck drivers to scale their loads.
