The California Highway Patrol is reminding the public that road signs have an important purpose after a semi truck got stuck on a nearly impassable road in Placer County.
The incident occurred on January 4th on a gravel road known as Yankee Jim’s – a nearly impassable roadway between Foresthill Road and Interstate 80 in Placer County, California.
In a Facebook post made by California Highway Patrol, a semi truck can be seen with its trailer snagged on a pile of gravel. The truck driver appears to have been attempting a hairpin turn on the gravel road when he got stuck.
“This (route) is almost impassable in a pick-up truck, let alone a big rig,” CHP said in their post.
“Most routes with length and weight restrictions have signs posted warning against driving on them with larger vehicles. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THEM!!” the post continued.
“The signs are there to protect you and the public…We promise.”
“If you are a driver of a commercial vehicle (or any vehicle for that matter), please confirm the route your GPS or phone map provides you, especially if you are in a larger vehicle or are towing a trailer.”
No one was injured in the incident, but “the tow bill was probably not as kind,” CHP added.
CHP also made sure to mention that “the company name on the trailer has nothing to do with the driver of the truck or the carrier contracted to pull it.”
