CHP says dump truck was almost 20,000 pounds overweight for its axle configuration

Troopers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) say they recently busted a dump truck for a serious weight violation.

The dump truck was stopped by CHP troopers in the Victorville area on January 29, 2026.

From CHP:

This afternoon one of our Mobile Road Enforcement officers spotted this dump truck rockin’ its way down the Interstate with a load of aggregate piled high and uncovered. A stop was made and lo and behold in addition to the uncovered load, the truck was extremely overweight for the axle configuration, by almost 20,000 pounds! No one likes a rock hitting their window or extra damage to our roadways.

Commercial drivers are expected to know the rules of the road and requirements for the goods they are hauling. We are glad to have removed this vehicle before damage occurred.
