State troopers say that a truck driver was arrested for DUI after running off a muddy narrow roadway in northern California.
On February 24, 2026, troopers responded to reports of semi truck that had driven off the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Yreka Division, operating out of Siskiyou County.

When officers arrived on the scene, the truck driver reportedly showed signs of impairment.
A Field Sobriety Test was administered, and “it was determined the big rig driver was almost three times the legal limit,” troopers said.

The driver was arrested for DUI.
“Operating a commercial vehicle is not just a job – it’s a responsibility. Due to the size, weight, and potential impact of commercial trucks, commercial drivers are held to higher standards, especially when it comes to driving impaired. Our officers remain committed to keeping our roads safe for everyone. Drive responsibly and help us prevent tragedies before they happen,” said CHP.
