The Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) cited a commercial vehicle driver and a company after a straight truck crashed into a ditch in Polk County.
On Friday, January 2, 2026, WSP reported assisting the Polk County Sheriff Office after a straight truck struck a sign and then crashed off the roadway into a ditch.
“Thankfully, no one was hurt, however, during the investigation, several issues were found with the tires which were well below the federal requirements for commercial motor vehicles – including less than 4/32’ on the steer axle tires and less than 2/32’ on the remaining tires,” WSP said.
Troopers said that the company was cited for the equipment violations.
The driver of the straight truck was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
WSP shared images of the tire violations, which you can view below.
