Concrete truck driver called out for limping on blown tire on Arizona highway

Arizona authorities are reminding commercial vehicle drivers of the dangers of driving on a blown tire after catching a cement truck trying to make it back to the company yard rather than stopping for an immediate repair.

On July 10 2026, an Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol trooper with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit spotted an issue with a cement truck driving on AZ-202 in the Phoenix area.

Officials said that the driver was “intentionally driving with a blown tire on AZ-202 with his hazard lights activated.”

The driver told the trooper that “he was trying to make it from Queen Creek to his company yard rather than stop to have the tire repaired.”

AZDPS issued a reminder that driving on a blown tire poses a safety hazard.

“Driving on flat tires can lead to vehicle fires or damage to other vehicles. It also leaves debris in the roadways that can cause collisions,” the agency said.
